Rome

Today in class we went over what was going to be on the test. Octavian forces Lepidus to retire. He and Mark Antony become rivals. Mark Antony get with Cleopatria of Egypt personally, politically, economically, and militarily. Octavian defeats them at the battle of Actium. Octavian became the unchallenged ruler of Rome. He was called Agustus and Imperator. Now Rome is an empire, not a republic. Ruled for 40 years. He began a stable era of peace and prosperity known as Pax Romana. Pax Romana was 207 years long. He expanded the Roman Empire into Africa. He set up civil service to run the government. Octavian died because of natural causes. Power was passed down to emperors who were bad.
