Greece

Fertile valleys cover 1/4 of Greece-20% suitable for farming. Greeks mainly ate grains, grapes, and olives. The lack of resources led to Greek colonization. Temperatures were moderate year long there back then. The Mycenaeans influence began in 2000 BCE. Mycenae is located on a rocky ridge of Peloponnesus protected by a 20Ft wall. Kings dominated Greece from 1600-1100 BCE. Kings controlled trade. 1400 BCE- Mycenaeans invaded Crete and absorbed Minoan culture. The Trojan war was about Gods and Goddesses in the 12th or 13th century BCE. 1200 BCE the sea people invaded Mycenae and burned many of their palaces. Dorians moved into the war- torn region dominating from 1150-750 BCE. Dorians were less advanced. Their writings disappeared for 400 years. Homer the Bard wrote 2 stories: The Illiad and the Odyssey.
