Narrator: A long time ago there was a beautiful girl named Medusa, who lived in a town called Athens. She was considered the prettiest in the town. She was very confident and proud about her beauty so she made sure people knew of it.
*SUNDAY*
The miller: hello my lady Medusa
Medusa: Oh miller, look at my skin, it is more beautiful than the fresh white snow
*MONDAY*
Medusa: Cobler, isn’t my hair as bright as the sun?
*TUESDAY*
Medusa: Blacksmith’s son, my eyes are greener than the Aegean Sea.
*WEDNESDAY*
(to public)
Medusa: My lips, so plump, are in fact redder than the reddest rose in the world!
Narrator: Then Medusa and a couple of her friends traveled to the Parthenon, the biggest temple in Greece. While she was looking at the statues of Athena she continued to boast about herself and say that it would look better if it was her. The people around her who worshipped Athena were shocked by this. They all left the temple because they knew Athena would hear and be furious.
Athena: Vain and foolish girl! You think your a prettier girl than me. While other people are working, playing or learning, you just boast about yourself. Medusa there is more to life than beauty alone, you see.
Medusa: My beauty is an inspiration to others around me. I make their lives better by simply looking so pretty.
Athena: Nonsense! One day beauty will fade away. But I will make it fade away now and all your loveliness will be gone forever.
Narrator: Athena then turned Medusa into an ugly monster with hissing snakes as hair and her body turned to a snake.
Athena: Are you happy for what I have done? Now anyone who looks in your eyes will now turn into stone and no one will be able to save them.Even you, Medusa, should you seek your reflection, will turn to rock the moment you see your face.
Narrator: Athena then sent Medusa to the end of the earth with the gorgon sisters and the blind monsters so that no innocent people would be turned into stone by the sight of Medusa accidently.
